Stolen Throne Call To Arms Robusto – Cigar Review

Stolen Throne Call To Arms Pre-Light

Stolen Throne, formed in 2018, is a collaborative effort by Lee Marsh, John Stephens, and Phil Hartnett. Their home base is Yorktown, Virginia, with most of their cigars coming from Noel Rojas’ Rojas Cigar Factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.

The Call To Arms is Stolen Throne’s Sophmore release. It was brought to market in 2020, a year after their flagship cigar, the Crook Of The Crown. The blend consists of an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper atop Nicaraguan binder and filler leaves. The blend is available in two vitolas, a 5×50 Robusto and a 6×46 Corona. The Rojas Cigar Factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, handles the production of the Call To Arms.

The wrapper is a dark earthy brown with a light oily sheen. It’s rolled with a triple cap and a partially closed foot. Stolen Throne lists this as a 5×50, but it feels more like a 5×48 or 5×49 in the hand. The aromas are of barnyard, leather, and sweet hay. The cold draw is perfectly snug with more notes of sweet hay and barnyard.

Stolen Throne Call To Arms First Third

At light up, the closed foot starts with deeply bready, sweet, and spicy notes from the wrapper. The smoke output opens up at medium plus. The flavors on the palate are whole wheat bread, molasses, and a hint of dry earth. The retrohale shows notes of cornflakes, raisins, vanilla, and cinnamon. The strength of flavor is right at medium. The finish is soft, with notes of cornflakes and cinnamon. The ash, burn, and construction have been perfect so far.

Stolen Throne Call To Arms Second Third

I’m seeing notes of molasses, whole wheat bread, oak, and hay on the palate. Raisins, cornflakes, vanilla, and cinnamon are present on the retrohale. The sweet raisin note is leading the pack, and I greatly appreciate it. The strength of flavor remains at medium. The smoke output remains at medium plus. The finish has developed to medium, with notes of cornflakes. The ash, burn, and construction remain flawless.

Stolen Throne Call To Arms Final Third

On the palate, I’m seeing whole wheat bread, hickory, hay, and earth. The tones on the retrohale are cornflakes, vanilla, and cinnamon. The raisin has almost entirely fallen off here in the final third. The strength of flavor remains at medium. The smoke output remains at medium plus. The finish is medium with notes of hickory and cinnamon. The ash, burn, and construction held up perfectly. Past the band, the flavors continued to simplify, with more emphasis on the woody tones. I put this one down with just over an inch left.

Stolen Throne Call To Arms Conclusions

The Stolen Throne Call To Arms is an exceptionally blended cigar with notes of sweet raisins, whole wheat bread, vanilla, and cinnamon. While I wish it carried over into the final third, that raisin note was delicious. The construction here was flawless, and I love the addition of a closed foot and a triple cap at this price point. The MSRP on these is right around $10, which is an excellent price. If you’re looking for a sweet, engaging, medium-bodied Sumatra blend, you’ll greatly enjoy Stolen Throne’s Call To Arms.
