Aganorsa Leaf Aniversario Corojo Prelight
Aganorsa Leaf was founded by Eduardo Antonio Fernandez Pujols in 1997. Eduardo emigrated from Havana, Cuba, to Nicaragua with ambitions to cultivate tobacco. Today, Aganorsa Leaf is one of Nicaragua’s largest farms, and it supplies tobacco to brands like Warped, Illusione, and HVC.
The Aniversario was initially launched under the Casa Fernandez banner before being rebranded as the Aniversario. The blend is made up entirely of Nicaraguan tobacco from the Aganorsa Farm. The Wrapper leaf is a Corojo ’99 grown on the Aganorsa farm in Nicaragua.
The wrapper is gorgeous, with an oily sheen and some marbling of dark brown and black tones. The cigar is gently boxed pressed. The aroma has notes of cinnamon and barnyard. A cut shows a snug draw, with notes of black tea and wet leaves.

Aganorsa Leaf Aniversario Corojo First Third
I’m picking up on some great flavors right off the bat. I’m seeing notes of cheerios, hay, and just a touch of cedar on the palate. The retrohale has tones of sweet baking spices, mixed nuts, and sugarcane. Smoke output is at medium plus. The strength of flavor is right at mild-medium. The ash doesn’t hold on for long, but the burn and construction are excellent. The finish is soft with notes of sugarcane and cedar.

Aganorsa Leaf Aniversario Corojo Second Third
The flavors are developing very nicely in the second third. The palate has tones of graham crackers, hay, and soft earth. The retrohale shows cinnamon, sugarcane, almond, and a tingle of nutmeg spice. Smoke output is still at medium plus, and the strength of flavor has grown to medium. The ash is slightly flaky, but the burn and construction are still excellent. The finish is soft with notes of almond and cinnamon.

Aganorsa Leaf Aniversario Corojo Final Third
The final third is an excellent finish for the Aniversario Corojo with more of an emphasis on nutty tones. I see Graham crackers, grass, and soft earth on the palate. On the retrohale, notes of almond, sugarcane, cinnamon, lemon zest, and a tickle of nutmeg spice. Smoke output and strength of flavor are both medium plus. The finish is also medium, with notes of almond and cinnamon. The ash, burn, and construction have been flawless. Past the band, the flavors remained remarkably consistent. I put this cigar down with just under an inch left.

Aganorsa Leaf Aniversario Corojo Conclusions
The Aganorsa Leaf Aniversario Corojo is an exceptionally tasty Lancero. A delicious sugarcane flavor complements its strong backbone of hay, graham crackers, and baking spices. The ash never stuck on for too long, but the construction and burn were fabulous. The Aniversario Corojo is a much lighter and sweeter blend than most Nicaraguan puros, but it’s packing plenty of flavor. At $14, these are right in the sweet spot, and I’d happily pay the price of admission. If you’re a fan of nuanced, sweet, and nutty profiles or love a good lancero, you’ll have a blast with the Aniversario Corojo.
